At the start of January with small town pride running strongly through my veins I came up with this idea to blog throughout the year about a small local business, entrepreneur, group or sole trader.

Giving something back to the fabulous local people that help my business grow seemed a great way of paying it forward.

Liz Abram of Liz Abram Coaching Services answered the call to arms … well it was a Facebook post if we’re going to be factual actually.

Let me tell you about Liz. Liz has a brilliant sense of humour which is eerily the same as my own, is honest, intuitive, unpretentious and fun. She has the most amazing blue eyes I’ve ever seen, they seem to dance with merriment. Liz is also intelligent, kind and she has this ability to be able to see through bullshit in no time at all!! All admirable qualities if you ask me,

Not everyone has this ability. Some of us just can’t see the wood for the trees, we experience moments in our lives where we want something, but can’t see past the stumbling blocks or in some cases we’re not quite sure what we want because we can’t sort through the everyday stuff and get to the nitty gritty. Liz helps with this sort of thing in two ways, through Walk and Talk sessions in the beautiful countryside that surrounds us here in the Midlands and at her Staffordshire home doing Colour Mapping.

In her own words the Walk and Talk sessions “help you to air your stuff, hear yourself and sort out your life. You can turn your own life around with help from me asking you the right questions. The questions are my thing, and the answers are yours; then we go ahead and work with what comes out! Something magic unfolds when you allow yourself a day out in the countryside, walking and talking with an experienced coach. The very process of putting one foot in front of the other unlocks you from feeling stuck. So much the better if the person beside you does not judge but merely listens and guides the conversation to get you into your most resourceful frame of mind. We can move mountains, and I know where all the best teashops are.”

When I visited Liz I had the opportunity to try out Colour Mapping. First I met Poppy the dog though and had a much needed cuppa with Liz and Poppy had a little lie down on my feet.

What is Colour Mapping? Colour mapping is putting all that stuff that is in your head onto paper in a way that creates branches of ideas. Untangling the stumbling blocks, discovering what it is that you actually want to achieve/do/create in an uninhibited fashion AND it includes glittery pens, Sharpies and colouring pens. Winner all round, right!

Any topic can be colour mapped. Personal life issues, career development, business opportunities etc it really is endless. Liz does other stuff with her coaching and colour mapping workshops. She does coaching in school (helping kids through their GCSE year) and is hoping to embark on an exciting project this year helping service veterans live with and recover from PTSD. Before you ex vets roll your eyes ….. she’s ex military too so she gets it!
